However, we are open to other office locations within Missouri for the right talent.A Hybrid - Remote Office Work Environment and flexible work schedule will be considered after the initial training period is complete and based on the candidate's qualifications and needs.This position is classified as Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.This position is open until filled.Department: Legal ServicesReports To: Associate General CounselResponsibilities/DutiesJob Functions*PercentageJob Functions45%Support Operations – Legal, Loan Services, Title Services, Marketplace:Participates in the review, preparation and coordination of closing documents and assist in resolving any title issues that arise.Conducts research related to real estate transactions, including with respect to ownership, land use, access, legal descriptions, liens, title exceptions and related matters.Follows up to clarify issues, inconsistencies and missing information relating to customers and loansFields questions from staff regarding title work and legal documentsEnsures compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements related to real estate transactions and company policies.45%Document Review and Preparation:Reviews real estate documents, including purchase and sale agreements, leases, deeds, title exception documents and closing documentsPrepares various documents including deeds, deeds of trust, subordination agreements, entity authorizations and other closing documents under the supervision of counsel.Reviews various real estate transactional documents including title commitments, title exception documents, appraisals, entity formation documents and other documents for accuracy, and adherence to and proper handling with respect to regulations and Association policies and procedures.Enters information into applicable databases to ensure proper record-keeping is maintainedGenerates documents using applicable software10%Administrative Duties:Provides other support to General Counsel and Associate General Counsel as needed.n/aOther duties as assigned to meet the needs of the organization. Required SkillsMinimum QualificationsAssociate’s degree in paralegal studies, Bachelor’s degree preferred.Paralegal Certification3 years of related experience as a real estate paralegalOr an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the jobRequired Knowledge and SkillsWorking knowledge of real estate law and transactionsWorking knowledge of title insurance and closing processesProficiency in legal research tools and databases (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis)Strong problem solving, decision making and organizational skills.Skill in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely mannerAttention to detail and accuracyCommunication skills sufficient to discuss a variety of job-related topics and to effectively communicate complex issuesSkill in utilizing Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OutlookSkill in processing complex, detailed information in an accurate and thorough mannerSkill in working as part of a team and collaborating with colleaguesVerbal and written communication skills, sufficient to exchange information effectively with peers, supervisor and customersSkill in organizing material and information in a systematic way to optimize efficiencySkill in applying processes and procedures to factual data to come to make logical decisionsResponsible to appropriately protect the confidentiality, security, and integrity of the Association’s systems and data and clients’ data
