Job Description Project Engineer (BR)

BlackRock is seeking a motivated and skilled Project Engineer with expertise in general and concrete construction to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. This position requires a proactive, self-sufficient individual who can work independently and efficiently, taking initiative and ownership of project tasks from start to finish.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Assist the Project Manager in the day-to-day management of construction projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective project completion.
  • Maintain and organize project documentation, including plans, schedules, reports, and change orders. Ensure all work complies with contract documents, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Set up and maintain jobsite office and all jobsite records, including project directory, construction documents, subcontractor directory, daily reports, submittal logs, RFI logs, subcontractor correspondence, etc.
  • Coordinate and communicate with field teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth project execution. Address and resolve issues that arise during the construction process.
  • Promote a safe work environment by ensuring compliance with safety regulations and conducting site safety meetings as needed. Personal accountability for safety oversight of all projects, personnel, and subcontractors. Includes ensuring, Daily Stretching, and Safety Audits are performed consistently. Independent identification of potential issues and threats that could impact the organization.
  • Independent ability to perform take-offs, understand labor hours, use estimating software, process s, assist in bidding.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and willingness to do business with the company
  • Understand cost implications and consequences associated with specific construction tasks at various stages of a project
  • Prepare Subcontracts, Purchase Orders, Material Procurement and Review of Invoices, perform takeoffs, research pricing, assist PM is vendor communications, track receipts and processing invoice expense codes in system.
  • Assist PM in tracking project budgets, timelines, and resources. Report on project status and assist with preparing progress reports for stakeholders.
  • Quality Control: Ensure adherence to quality standards by conducting regular site inspections and collaborating with quality assurance teams to mitigate risks.

Education, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelors degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in construction or engineering, preferably in project engineering role.
  • Proficient in project management software, MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project), and construction scheduling software.
  • Knowledge of construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for liaising with project teams, clients, and subcontractors.
  • OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour certification preferred, or the willingness to obtain

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time performing desk work.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.
  • Must be able to understand the speech of another person
  • Must be able to speak clearly so listeners can understand
  • Must be able to see details of objects that are less than, or more than a few feet away
