Job Title: Aerospace/Aircraft Liaison Engineer
Location: Hot Springs, Arkansas
Salary Range: $80,000 - $125,000 base salary
Description:
Analyzes, researches, and develops structural engineering specifications involving metallic, non-metallic, or composite structural materials for product design, or operation of product to include structures, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronics, power plant, armament, heating and ventilating, equipment and maintenance designs. Analyzes damage tolerance, durability, design allowables and structural modeling. Specific structural engineering specialties may include dynamics and loads, stability and stress fatigue and thermal analysis. Tools utilized may include CATIA, IDEAS, ProEngineer and a variety of software applications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•Know and understand company and department policies and safety procedures.
•Develops key data and creates preliminary layouts, sketches, and annotations necessary to submit repair proposals to OEM's and customers.
•Investigates and resolves structural problems by identifying defects on the parts and providing written dispositions for structural repairs (ERs-Engineering Repair Procedures) that will restore a component to airworthy condition prior to its return to service; Submits those repairs to a FAA DER or the OEM (as applicable) for approval.
•Ensure that all documents generated by Engineering are in compliance with current approved maintenance data.
•Develops detail part fabrication planning with the correct sequence of operations utilizing engineering drawings and specifications.
•Most components are sheet metal fabrication in nature that include processes such as stretch bend, hydro-form, drop hammer, roll form, heat treat, chemical etch/ clean and other general fabrication processes such as prime, paint and assembly.
•Other parts are machined.
•Serves as liaison between company Airborne Structures and DERs as well as customers' engineering departments (FedEx, UPS, SWA, Delta, Boeing, etc.)
•To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty at a high level of accomplishment.
•Other various duties as necessary or assigned.
Qualifications: •Bachelor's Degree in either Mechanical, Aerospace, Materials Engineering, related field of study, or commensurate experience required.
•2+ years of experience with structural dynamics and loads, stability and stress fatigue and thermal analysis.
•5+ years of structural experience in aerospace or aircraft manufacturing desired.
•Must be familiar with aircraft manufacturers' blueprints, SRM, OHM, maintenance manual, engineering repair procedures, and FAA form 8110 repairs.
•Interface with supervision on the production floor to interpret Airbus, Boeing, Douglas or other drawing and engineering specifications.
•Must be computer literate in Windows environment - a working knowledge of AutoCAD/Autodesk products is a must.
