Position Overview:
The HR/LR Intern will gain hands-on experience in various Human Resources and Labor Relations facets within a manufacturing setting. This role will support the HR and Labor Relations teams' day-to-day activities, providing valuable exposure to recruitment, employee relations, compliance, and organizational development. This position will be located at all 3 Mon Valley Works facilities (Irvin, Clairton, Edgar Thomson).

Key Responsibilities:
1. Recruitment and Onboarding:

  • Assist with recruitment, including posting job openings, screening resumes, and scheduling interviews.
  • Support onboarding by preparing new hire documentation and assisting with orientation activities.
2. Employee Relations:
  • Provide support in addressing employee queries and concerns, ensuring a positive work environment.
  • Help organize and facilitate employee engagement activities and initiatives.
3. Compliance and Documentation:
  • Assist with maintaining employee records and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Help prepare reports and documentation for audits and compliance reviews.
4. Labor Relations:
  • Support the Labor Relations team with data collection and analysis related to employee grievances and union negotiations.
  • Assist in preparing materials for labor meetings and contributing to resolving workplace issues.
5. Training and Development:
  • Assist in coordinating training programs and workshops for employees.
  • Help track employee development progress and maintain training records.
6. General HR Support:
  • Provide administrative support to the HR team, including scheduling meetings, handling correspondence, and managing HR documentation.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
Skills:
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • A basic understanding of HR principles and labor laws is a plus.
Experience: Previous internship or work experience in a similar role is a plus but not required.
