Flight Scheduler

Job Description Reporting Structure: The Flight Scheduler reports to the Scheduling Department Manager and/or Assistant Manager. 
Job Duties
The Flight Scheduler is responsible for ensuring safe and efficient operational control over aviation flights in compliance with applicable regulations and company policies.
This role is carried out in conjunction with the Pilot in Command (PIC) on behalf of the Operations Manager as defined in 14 CFR Part 135 and authorized in sections A002 and A008 of the Company's Operational Specifications.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Act as a liaison with the Scheduling Department Manager to ensure compliance with the Flight Standardization Manual (FSM), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and all relevant sections of the General Operations Manual (GOM).
- Ensure safe and efficient coordination in accordance with domestic and foreign governmental rules and regulations, company flight operating manuals, and policies and procedures.
- Exercise a Two-Tier coordination with the PIC and joint responsibility for Flight Monitoring with the flight crew. - Develop, review, distribute, and revise flight itineraries for all flights in line with safety, regulatory, customer service, and company fiscal requirements.
- Coordinate with the flight crew for the release of an aircraft to operate as per the established flight itinerary.
- Assist the flight crew in reviewing operational conditions and identifying any factors that may affect operational capabilities, such as weather, airport facilities, air traffic control, and aircraft performance, and share this information as needed.
- Monitor and communicate changes to operational and meteorological conditions that may affect flight safety.
- Solicit, review, and maintain current flight and field condition reports to provide the latest information to the flight crews.
- Capture accurate, up-to-date flight progress information and communicate it to relevant parties.
- Interface directly with insurance and medical providers, and patient/family members to coordinate logistics, payment guarantee, and gather information for flight itineraries.
- Communicate with Air Traffic Control Services and aircraft in flight when necessary for Flight Monitoring.
- Initiate incident/accident procedures as per the Emergency Response Procedures (ERP) in the Safety Management System (SMS).

Employee Job Description:
- Communicate any issues with Maintenance, the PIC, and Flight Operations Management caused by aircraft deviations from standards that may limit or impact flight operational capabilities.
- Inform Maintenance, affected Flight Schedulers, and Flight Operations Management of any reported deviations from standard during flight that could impact scheduling integrity.
- Communicate with medical operations coordinators during abnormal operations such as flight delays and cancellations, and coordinate alternative plans with flight operation management.
- Initiate and coordinate airport handling, including diversions to alternate airports when required.
- Comply with economic petroleum policies to maximize corporate profitability within proper safety parameters.
- Conduct ground handling at the Burk Lakefront Airport base when maintenance department personnel are not available, including utilizing the aircraft tug for repositioning aircraft and operating the ground power unit (GPU) for departing flights.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: To perform this role successfully, an individual must be able to fulfil each essential duty satisfactorily.

- Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Language Skills: Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or the business community, and to effectively present information to management.
Clear and effective written and oral communication is essential for interactions with supervisors, clients, staff, and vendors.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, and Microsoft Office applications.
Above-average knowledge of Microsoft Office is required for this role.
