Position: ESL Teacher (Part-Time)
Department: Academic
Salary Range: Depending on the available schedule and how many classes you'd like to teach, the part-time salary can range from $22-$26/hour
Position Summary: The Teacher is part of the Academic Team and is responsible for delivering a superior student learning experience through the delivery of classroom instruction, tutorials and student assessment as defined in the EC Teacher Standards. As part of the Academic Team the teacher, in collaboration with the DoS sets individual learning and development goals and actively seeks opportunities to further develop teaching practice.
Key Responsibilities: - Establishes a positive learning environment for all learners, ensuring that they feel supported in their learning and able to take risks with language.
- Creates lessons that are motivating and engaging with a focus on learning and progress.
- Provides feedback and support that encourages the learners to develop both their language skills and their learning autonomy.
- Completes all administrative duties in a timely manner.
- Works in the school team and the teaching team in a professional manner.
- Takes an active interest in self-development and creates and achieves development goals.
- Participates in in-company and industry events and trainings and promotes and facilitates best practice through active collaboration with other EC teachers.
- Duties assigned include, but are not be limited to the following:
- Plan and deliver assigned by the DoS in accordance with EC Teacher Standards
- Complete class administration in a timely manner, including: Records of Work, student attendance, Student assessment reports
- Set and mark homework and tests according to the EC assessment rubrics
- Provide students with focused tutorials.
- Encourage students on academic contracts and improvement plans through monitoring and support.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as directed by the Director of Studies
- Seek feedback from students, peers and manager
- Set development goals in conjunction with the DoS based on observations, feedback and individual areas of interest.
- Follow the directives in the employee handbook and teacher manual
- Provide occasional substitute coverage
- Participate in internal CPD events
- Assist Director of Studies in piloting new materials and programs
- Conduct peer observations
- Check work email daily
- Keep current with school policies and company aims
- Check work notices and announcements
Education Required: - Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in any field
- TEFL certificate (including teaching practicum CELTA/Trinity equivalent preferred)
Experience Required: - Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver high quality language lessons
- Demonstrated ability to work with new technologies for teaching and administration
Experience Desired: - Experience studying or working abroad
