Job Description
Job Title: Development Assistant Job Status: Part-time Job Summary: Under direct supervision, the Development Assistant supports the operations of the organization's Development Department and assists with aspects of fundraising and development including prospect research, grant support and database administration.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Support the day-to-day operations of the Development department by maintaining the donor database, assisting with entering donor information and processing gifts (including one-time and recurring)
- Work with internal teams to develop and implement proactive strategies for fundraising through writing letters, proposals, fact sheets, case statements and/or other materials, responding to inquiries, and helping coordinate fundraisers
- Update and maintain acknowledgment letters and other written materials
- Gather and analyze data related to donor gifts and support team in developing fundraising strategies in response to trends and gaps
- Research new prospective individual donors, analyze their giving history and potential and write donor briefings
- Conduct research into existing and prospective corporate and foundation funders
- May identify grant opportunities for the organization
- May provide support with grant writing, developing case statements and grant reporting
- Help promote the mission and vision of organization to businesses, corporations, foundations, and individual leadership
- Operate standard office equipment and use required software applications
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of:
- Basic concepts, principles and practices of fundraising, development and/or customer relationship building (i.e. sales experience)
- Donor database maintenance
Skill in:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Limited proficiency operating donor database system
- May require experience with Blackbaud products such as Raiser's Edge or Altru is preferred
- Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications for program area and other applications, including Microsoft Office
Ability to:
- Work both independently and as part of a team, in a highly efficient and organized manner
- Work on several projects concurrently, prioritize and complete in timely manner
- Track progress on tasks and handle follow-up as needed
- Handle confidential information with sensitivity and integrity

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements: - Minimum Degree Required:
- Associate degree or completion of 60 credits from an accredited college or university
- Active enrollment in college or university
- Required Disciplines:
- Business, Marketing, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, English, Communications, or a related field
