JOB SUMMARY Performs all aspects of Echocardiographic imaging including a variety of special procedures such as Transesophageal Echocardiograms, Stress Echocardiograms and Dobutamine Stress Echocardiograms
JOB QUALIFICATIONS - Successful completion of an accredited program in cardiac ultrasound
- RDCS licensure through ARDMS required.
- CPR certification required
- Three years experience performing cardiac ultrasound examinations, preferred
- Ability to perform technically complete studies
- Strong interpretation skills to facilitate a comprehensive examination and an accurate preliminary interpretation
- Strong communication skills
JOB DUTIES - Demonstrates the WSMC Customer Service Values, which are key in providing quality service to patients and customers.*
- Prepares patients for cardiac ultrasound procedures, including reviewing order, indication, cardiologist, and previous studies. *
- Performs cardiac ultrasound examinations including trans-thoracic and stress studies and assist with trans-esophageal studies. Performs two-dimensional, M-mode, pulsed, continuous wave, and color flow Doppler imaging. *
- Provides a preliminary interpretation to the reading cardiologist and occasionally house staff. *
- Observes patient for unusual reactions and monitors changes in ECG or vital signs. *
- Occasionally assists in other areas of cardiology, i.e. stress testing, holter scanning, ECG editing, pacemaker checks, and cardiac rehab. *
- Performs and maintains required records for quality assurance. *
- Insures a safe environment for patients and visitors. Maintains equipment in safe manner, reports to Biomedical department any changes. *
- Insures appropriate level of supplies. Initiates purchase requisitions for proper authorization. *
- Maintains current teaching file. Assists in teaching of ECGs for hospital staff. *
