JOB SUMMARY Under general supervision, the Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach/Basketball will serve the university's intercollegiate athletic men's and women's basketball teams working closely with the head strength & conditioning coach, men's basketball head coach, and women's basketball head coach to prepare, schedule and supervise year-round strength and conditioning programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: - Oversees all aspects of the strength and conditioning programs for men's and women's basketball;
- Work in consultation with the head strength & conditioning coach to prepare, schedule and supervise the programs;
- Instruct student-athletes in the proper and safe techniques of weight training;
- Design and implement testing programs and sport-specific exercise prescriptions;
- Maintain records and database for strength and conditioning programs for student-athletes;
- Interface with the athletics training staff to coordinate injury rehabilitation and treatment schedules;
- Assist the head strength & conditioning coach on supervision and maintenance of the weight room;
- Maintain confidentiality of information (including but not limited to: student and employee personal information, student grades, etc.), both during and after their employment with the University. Any question regarding the confidentiality of material, should be referred to the supervisor. Any violation shall subject the employee to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: % of Time
65% Supervise strength and conditioning activities for men's and women's basketball programs
25% Prepare and schedule programs for student-athletes
5% Instruct student-athletes on safety and proper techniques
5% Other various duties as assigned
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: - Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays when necessary.
- Ability to supervise, instruct, and motivate student-athletes.
- Understanding and complying with all NCAA, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and institutional regulations.
- Knowledge of strength and conditioning programs for collegiate athletic teams.
- Proficiency to handle various office machines including but not limited to: calculator, computer, copy machine and fax.
- Ability to receive telephone calls, respond to inquiries and communicate with others by telephone.
ERGONOMIC REQUIREMENTS The functions of the position usually performed sitting, but may require some amount of time standing. Some amount of stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting, walking, carrying and other movements may be required. Tasks involving working on a computer keyboard, computer software applications, calculator, cutting, labeling, and taping involve extensive wrist and hand movement. All individuals are required to be able to perform these movements without significant risk of injury to themselves or others.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS - Bachelor degree required.
- National Strength and Conditioning Association certification required and previous experience preferred.
